Auditions for Steel Magnolias

Steel Magnolias is a comedy-drama set in a small town beauty shop in NW Louisiana - A heart warming portrait of friendship & love, the group friendship among six women is prominent throughout the show, which gives the play, and its characters, the special quality to make them truly touching, funny, and amiable company in good times and bad.

Auditions will be cold reading, some improv, no prepared pieces needed.

Characters:

Truvy Jones - mid 30's and up; Beauty Shop owner, free advice giver, witty, funny

Annelle Dupuy-Desoto - late teens-20's a little strange, seems to be hiding a secret, trying to fit in, funny

Clairee Belcher - 40 and up, widow of former mayor, elegant women, funny, witty

Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie - 20's to early 30's strong willed, difficulty dealing with her medical issues

M'Lynn Eatenton - 40’s and up, Mother to Shelby - caring women, career women

Ouiser (pronounced Weezer) Boudreaux - 50's and up, wealthy, curmudgeon, bitter @times, cares about her friend but does not like to show it, lovable

These women are witty, intelligent REAL Characters not caricatures!

NOTE: Ages will be flexible except for Shelby & Annelle!

Audition dates are September 10 and 11 at Panhandle Community Theatre venue, 4646 Woodbine Road, Pace, starting at 7:00PM.

Performance dates are November 8 through 11 and 15 through 18.
